Accessibility statement
Accessibility statement for NHS Scotland Academy LMS
This accessibility statement applies to the NHS Scotland Academy's Moodle Learning Management System.
This website is run by NHS Scotland Academy. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website. For example, that means you should be able to:
- change colours, contrast levels and fonts using browser or device settings
- zoom in up to 400% without the text spilling off the screen
- navigate most of the website using a keyboard or speech recognition software
- listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)
We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.
AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.
How accessible this website is
We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:
- older PDF documents that we make link to are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- there may be third party videos linked to that may not be captioned or be limited to automatic captions

Technical information about this website’s accessibility
NHS Education for Scotland is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.
Compliance status
The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standard.
This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.
- non-compliances - this means the content in question is in scope of the regulations, but there’s an accessibility problem with it
- an exemption - this means the inaccessible content is out of scope of the regulations, or it’d be a disproportionate burden for you to make it accessible
Non-compliances
Contrast issues with page elements
There are colour contrast issues on some elements:
- Completion progress links to completable items. This fails WCAG Success Criterion 1.4.11: Non-text Contrast and WCAG Success Criterion 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum) . There are compliant alternatives for students to monitor activity completion progress in place.
Exemptions
- older PDF documents that we make link to are not fully accessible to screen reader software
- there may be third party videos linked to that may not be captioned or be limited to automatic captions

Accessibility plan
From October 2024 the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018 will require websites meet the WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standard .
It is expected that the November 2024 update to Moodle (4.5) will meet these new accessibility requirements and the site will be updated when feasible.
